Well...the groundhog saw his shadow...boo! This bring the prediction of 6 more weeks of winter and I can believe that with the kind of weather we are having here! No big snowfall but cold temps. Here in Kansas the weather is crazy and changes from day-to-day. One day it will be 32 and the next it will be 62. I don't get it either!
We have been exploring the thoughts and properties of shadows along with the observance of groundhog day. This was a really fun, and messy, art project we did.

This was fun, and very simple. All you have to do is put some white paint into a spray bottle. I found that, after I did some test sprays, I did want to add a tiny bit of water to the paint to help it spray out easier.
To carry this out, it is pretty simple, but you may want to add some extra precautions to avoid too much mess. I chose to lay newspaper out on the table to protect the table from the spraying paint.
Have the child get a black piece of paper. They place their hands out on the paper in any way they would like. Next, invite another friend to come to help by spraying (if you are not comfortable with that you can spray). Once you have achieved the spray, have the child lift off their hands to reveal the shadow! How cool is that! My kiddos just LOVED the outcome!
There will be paint all over their hands and arms, and that is okay! Have them wash up and the next person can go.
(Sorry I don't have more pictures during the process...I was a little side tracked).

Once they are all finished you can choose to display them how you wish.
Enjoy!
